Pinto baseball focuses on teaching players the fundamentals of the game. This division is open to players ages 7-8 as of April 30th of the season (players that are 6 and have played 2 years in Shetland are eligible for Pinto and should contact the Player Agent or Pinto Director if they would like to register). Pinto games are coach pitch with 7 pitches or 3 swinging strikes per at bat.
Each team will have a coach and assistant coach (volunteers) but we highly encourage parents to help out (background check required).
Players need to have their own glove and cleats. The league provides coaches with team helmets and bats. Each player will receive a team hat and shirt that they can keep after the season has ended.
Teams consist of around 12 players. Team requests are honored until the team is full.
Pinto teams have 1-2 practices and up to 2 games per week (games start 2-3 weeks into the season). Each team will play about 16 games in addition to the Jamboree and post season tournament.
All games are held at either Forest Crest or Ballinger fields. Practices fields are dependent on the number of teams each season.
